NOPD Officer Sammy Palumbo was shot this evening while working a multi-jurisdictional task force in Jefferson Parish. Officer Palumbo was occupying a surveillance van in the Lincolnshire Section of the Westbank of Jefferson Parish, when several individuals opened fire on the van, with Officer Palumbo inside. One round struck Officer Palumbo in the back. Officer Palumbo returned fire but it is unknown if any perpetrators were hit. Officer Palumbo is doing very well and is expected to recover fully.
