Ms. Laurie Wilson of the City Finance Department's Payroll Section has announced that initial terminal leave payments for former NOPD employees are scheduled to be disbursed on Friday, December 29, 2006, in conjunction with the normal NOPD pay date. This initial disbursal will be a 50% payment with the remainder to be paid in the 1st or 2nd Quarter of 2007. Any monies owed to the City due to salary overpayment in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will be deducted from your terminal leave money.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION :
All terminal leave payments will be made via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to your bank of record with the City of New Orleans.
If you have changed banks since separating from City Employment, or if you have some other problem with a direct deposit payment
you MUST call the NOPD Payroll Section with your current information. NOPD Payroll Section can be reached during normal working
hours at (504) 658-2333 or (504) 658-2328.
If you wish to defer any of the proceeds from the terminal leave disbursal, you MUST have the necessary forms from your Deferred Compensation
provider turned into the Department of Finance prior to Friday, December 22, 2006. For additional information on deferring a portion of your terminal
leave money, contact Laurie Wilson of the Department of Finance, Payroll Division at (504) 658-1542.

There has been finger-pointing like never seen before as to why the terminal leave pay has not been made. Please take the time out to email your City Council representatives to let them know how this disgusts everyone. Ultimately, the finger-pointing was ridiculous. There is no excuse for this and our retirees are the one's suffering.
Let them hear from you. You can also use the CAPWIZ function found at www.fopno.org to access CAPWIZ which has all the contact info for elected officials and media outlets.

Jimmy Gallagher sent out an email regarding the Terminal Leave whioch is of great importance and signficance to many members. here is his message. Thanks to the FOP for all their effort in this matter. PANO will continue to support and assist in this most important issue as well.
The Fraternal Order of Police has been advised that the terminal leave (accrued sick and annual leave) payments for members who
separated from service during the period 08/01/2005 - 12/23/2006 have been made via Electronic Fund Transfer into the individual
members bank account of record with the City.
The payment made represents one-half of the amount owed to individual employees. Please check with your individual financial
institutions to verify that the payments were received.
If any member who separated from service during the period cited above did not receive payment, or if the payment received was not
what was expected, please contact the FOP as soon as possible so that we can attempt to rectify any problems.
The Fraternal Order of Police would like to thank all effected members for their patience.
We would also like to thank the City Council Budget Committee (Cynthia Hedge-Morrell, Arnie Fielkow, Stacey Head) for their support
and for all their hard work on this issue. Stephanie Landry, director of NOPD Personnel and Payroll Division, and Chief Courtney Bagnaris
were always available for assistance and information. Ms. Laurie Wilson of the City's Finance Department was always willing to field phone
calls from the FOP and its members. Ms. Susan Pike and the City's programming staff were faced with numerous obstacles and worked tirelessly
to overcome them. We offer our thanks to all of the above.
Finally, Mr. Cary Grant, assistant CAO, suffered most of our anger and frustration. We know that he was doing everything in his power
to see that these payments were made as soon as was possible, and we thank him for those efforts.
With that being said, this issue is not fully resolved. The payments made represent only one-half of the amount owed to the dedicated
men and women who served our community with honor before accepting their well-deserved retirement. Rest assured that the Fraternal
Order of Police will continue to do everything in our power to assure that full payment is made at the earliest possible date.
