Mike
At what point will the administration go into panic mode? When there is nothing but white shirts on the department? I'm speaking about the officer retention problem. Is there any game plan?

I have not yet had the opportunity to meet with either Chief Nicholas or Superintendent Riley concerniing this most important issue (among many others), so I cannot yet tell you exactly how they view the problem, nor what their fix will be. I'm sure they are acutely aware of the magnitude of problem & its effect. I anticipate meeting with them very soon & I will most certainly report what their posture is & what that of PANO will be. I can tell you that PANO is looking into some projects to offset some of the department's deficiencies. They will be announced as soon as the research is done to determine how they can be properly administered.
I certainly have my own opinions & suggestions, based partially upon my personal knowledge & experience, coupled with having fielded a number of opinions & suggestions from other officers, in this forum & other forums such as Signal26.com & NOLA.com, and from many, many personal conversations with officers. One thing we are not short of, is the number of serious issues facing the NOPD. On those issues where the Association can assist, remedy ,or in some way positively impact, we are commiited to doing so. I will report immediately our progress.
