A lot of people have been asking about the Captain and Lieutenant list.
Well since Civil Service has extended the list as follows.

The current Lieutenant's Register will be in effect until 01-31-2007

I have added the word "Lieutenant" in red to show who has been promoted.
If I missed somebody please let me know.

The names in Yellow have been promoted to Captain.
The names in Blue are no longer employed by the NOPD

I am still attempting to locate a current Sergeant list.

Hope this answers any questions that people have been asking about the list.

How do they pick who gets promoted next ?

I see in the Lieutenant list its a bunch of people, and it appears they do not have to start at the top since people have been promoted all over the list.

Anybody ?

If you look at the below Lieutenant List you will see under the word "Expiration" the number 6.00, that shows the band.

Everybody in the band is considered “tied” or equal, so anybody can be picked by the appointing authority. This is where the college hours / sustained complaints come into play. If you do not fit the listed criteria listed in the promotional announcement you may be “passed over.”
Federal Court also ruled that the City must exhaust a band before going into the next band.

I hope this helps, I am sure a few others know more about this but this should give you an idea of what is going on.

I see two I know on the Lt. list and two on the Capt. list. Can someone let me know if they make it or not?

Beshears, Tyronne and Blackwell, Aaron for Lt.
Harrington, Thomas and Little, Bruce for Capt.

Thanks!

Both Tyronne Beshears and Tom Harrington have retired. Lt. Little is in Band 6, and the list is currently at Band 5. Also, there are several on the LT's list posted who have either retired or have already been promoted. Sgt. Patterson and Sgt. Gibbs have both retired, Frank Bivens, Angelo Smith, and Chris Lea have been promoted to LT.

Thanks Mike for the update as I use to work with Tom in the 4th and Tyronne in the old 8th district. Bruce now is a different story and will not divulge any information in the public forum as to where I met him, he is a good man and I hope he makes Captain.

One Last Thing relative to the Sergeant's List. It DOES EXPIRE TODAY, Wednesday, January 31, 2007. The next phase of the current Sergeant's Examination is being processed and will be announced shortly. The current Lieutenant's List will be in effect until 7-31-2007. The Captain's List will remain open until 8-31-2007, but being in existence a much shorter time, will likely be extended past that.

Do you know what they expect to have the new Sergeant's list out? If it won't be for a while, what will they do with the Sergeant positions that come available in the mean time? Will they not get filled?

If the list is "killed" then nobody will be made until the new list comes out.

I spoke to Civil Service yesterday in reference to the the format & time frame of the next phases of the Sergeant's test. The "current" list is dead. Any openings that come available will remain unfilled until the new list is established.
The written exam is being scored & the results will be out shortly. Passing the written phase will allow the candidate to take the next phase. The exact format of the next phase has not yet been fully determined, but will be announced shortly and administered. It is expected that the format will allow for easy grading & require no outside assessors, so the process should be much faster than in the past.

It is apparent from the last promotions to Lieutenant that they have gone into Band 7. Can anyone post the complete list of Band 7?
