Six NOPD officers and one former officer have been indicted on Frirst Degree Murder charges and attempted Murder charges stemming from the Danizger Bridge Incident. We will be posting factual information shortly as to bond, charges, fund raising efforts, ect., and any other information that we can share so that everyone is informed as to the truth. Information will be posted here, on the Website, in emails and on some other forums as well. PANO and FOP will be working closely to the benefit of all of these officers. We will be looking for your support very soon.

The case has been allotted to Judge Raymond Biglow, Section I, of Orleans Parish CDC. Judge Bigelow hgas given the officers till Tuesday, January 2, 2007, to turn themselves in.
The attorneys are meeting now and preparing the necessary Motions for Bond hearings, etc., which will likely begin on Wednesday, January 3, 2007.
There will be upcoming fund raising events which are currently being planned. PANO and FOP will work closely together on defense and support of these officers. I would ask that everyone write letters to the editor to the Times-Picayune, email the various news agencies and media, with professional and to-the-point comments on this matter. The news media needs to know how we feel.

The Danziger 7, as they are now being referred to, have opted to turn themselves in on Tuesday morning. I am requesting that everyone wishing to demonstrate their support show up and line the streets leading to the sallyport of Central Lockup. The time is TENTATIVELY set for 10:00 am, so be there early, like 9:00am. Details and changes will be announced here, on the PANO website, through email, on Signal26,com, and NOLA.com.

that it would help to bring to light all the strong cases made over the years refused by eddie jordan. I know I could come up with at least 10 cases where a the da's office allowed a career criminal to get out. I speak of such incidents where they allowed a 95.1 case 701 because they were unable to locate the person's conviction because it was in jp, however if they would have read the report they would have learned that the conviction was in jp.

Just as we started a thread to detail all of the murders and shootings that occur, I think it's only appropriate that we educate the public on all of the felony cases made by the NOPD that are either Refused for prosecution or bargained down to jaywalking. Let's keep the public informed as to just why there are so many criminals roaming about when have "half the popluation".
I will start a new thread just for that purpose. I would encourage and invite anyone with a specific case that was either plausible to prosecute or bargained down to little or no time, to post the circumstances here. Let's not just whine about it, let's tell the public the truth. If you don't want to identify yourself, you can leave out the names and just include the circumstances.

I have read many posts and heard many remarks on the Danziger matter, and have been exposed to only a little more information than most people. I have been questioned by the media on many of the questions raised by the indictments, and while I am not inclined to try the case here, or in front of the cameras, I have specifically commented on some issues. Neither I, nor Donovan Livaccari from FOP, have been shy to the media.
I do know that the Grand Jury was given limited evidence, edited testimony, and only one, very jaded side of the story. Misrepresented facts and mischaracterized circumstances will result in a flawed decision by even the best intentioned panel.
I believe the District Attorney has had a deliberate agenda and the conduct of his staff was designed to achieve this conclusion. The immediate and forthcoming litigation will identify any prosecutorial misconduct and prejudicial behavior on their part. The full testimony and evidence will then speak for itself. We will see what a fair, impartial, and fully informed panel decides.
In the meantime, I want to assure everyone, that the Police Association of New Orleans is fully dedicated to the complete support of these officers and their families. PANO and FOP are completely unified in their support efforts, both legally and financially. The officers have the very best in legal defense. I have fielded many inquiries as to fund raisers and contributions. These things are definitely being organized and we will be announcing where contributions can be made, and other support events within the next few days. We invite any other police or civilian organization wishing to render support to contact us. We welcome the assistance. But be assured, things are well in the works.
On Tuesday morning, January 2, 2007, tentatively at 10:00 am, the recently indicted officers will turn themselves in at Central Lockup at Perdido and South White Streets, to begin the legal process of vindication.
I am requesting that EVERYONE, civilian, military, sheriff’s office, federal agents, state and local police, and especially NOPD, come to the area of South Broad and Tulane Avenue, before 10:00am, the earlier, the better. We will begin lining the streets from Central Lockup at South White and Perdido Street, up South White, to Tulane Avenue, then on Tulane towards South Carrollton Avenue. The officers will follow this route in and I am requesting that EVERYONE wishing to show their support for these officers and for ALL of the Public Safety and First Responders, come and line the streets as these officers come to surrender themselves. This request is not just for law enforcement, but for ALL CITIZENS who disapprove of their public safety officers being treated in this fashion. Just get in line as you arrive, wherever there is space. I hope by 10:00 am, there is no space all the way to Jefferson Parish.
If you have a uniform, it is up to you to decide whether to wear it. If you wish to identify yourself as to your affiliation or organization, through other clothing, signs, or other means, that, too, will be up to you. I only ask that you show up, and behave with the same dignity that our brother officers have, and will continue, to demonstrate.
For my NOPD brothers and sisters, I would remind everyone who is on duty to remain in your assigned areas of responsibility, and maintain the public safety as you would do everyday. For those on duty whose assignments allow them the latitude, and for those off- duty, I would only ask that you show up.
There is no issue facing ANY Public Safety Officer, law enforcement or medical professional, more serious than an indictment for Murder for doing your job. I have often been asked about PANO working with closely FOP and other organizations to provide a unified front to achieve goals, and about widespread actions that can be taken to demonstrate our feelings on certain matters. For all those people who have said why don’t we do this, or why don’t we do that, or what is PANO and FOP doing about things, I say NOW is the time for you to BE that unified front. NOW is the time to show our brother officers that we are there, we will not forget, we will not stop and WE ARE ONE NOPD.

I have server space, long experience in web design, able to help at fund raising events, etc. I am disgusted at the DA as usual and with my time I put in over at OPJC, I have seen some really crazy stuff come out of his office. Anything at all I can do to help these seven HEROS, let me know.

Today may have been one of the most difficult days in my career as an NOPD officer. I was fighting back tears as I said goodbye to my friends and watched them walk in to that hell which we call Orleans Parish Prison. It kills me to see these HEROS being used by Eddie Jordan as a political tool to advance his re-election efforts. Mr. Jordan’s actions and comments involving this case are despicable and should shock the consciences of all law enforcement officers and citizens alike.
Today’s events also left me with a sense of pride that I have not experienced in a long time. I was overwhelmed with pride as I watched hundreds of my brother officers gather to support the Danziger Hero’s. I was proud to watch our seven officers walk in that hell like men to face these baseless allegations. Never in my career have so many NOPD officers gathered for a cause. I was proud that we maintained discipline and dignity even as angry protesters attempted to incite us by making obscene comments.
I also would like to publicly commend the ten captains that stood with us today. Thank you Captains Bardy, Brissett, Colin, Kouts, Laviolette, Smegal, Waguespack, Weiss, Willow and Winn for standing with us today. You stood with us even though your actions were probably frowned upon by the administration.
This is just the beginning of a long road for these officers. WE CANNOT FORGET THEM NO MATTER HOW LONG THIS TAKES.
