The Fraternal Order of Police Crescent City Lodge # 2 and the Police Association of New Orleans is asking that every member of the Department, Police Officer and Civilian alike, to donate $5.00 of their bi-weekly paycheck to help support the wives and children of the seven indicted officers.

If only 500 of our nearly 2000 department employees make this commitment, we will generate $2500.00 every two weeks. The F.O.P guarantees that every penny of these funds will go directly to support the families of the indicted officers.

We will be asking the public to donate money to the Legal Defense Fund being set up for these officers. As we solicit funds to cover attorney fees, lets show the public and our fellow officers that we also care for our own.

Below is the pre-printed payroll deduction form.
CLICK HERE FOR THE PAYROLL DEDUCTION FORM (http://pano1544.com/forums/../news/fop.pdf)

Simply print the form out and enter your Social Security Number and sign the bottom of the form. Return the form to the FOP via departmental mail, or directly to the NOPD Personnel Office. The $5.00 bi-weekly donation will automatically be deducted from your paycheck.

In addition to the payroll deduction that Billy posted above, the FOP and PANO have also arranged for a bank account at Liberty Bank to accept donations from anyone who would like to donate via the mail or donation at any Liberty Bank Branch. The address for donations is as follows:

FOP/PANO Legal Defense Fund
c/o Liberty Bank
3200 Magazine St.
New Orleans, LA 70115

Checks should be made out to FOP/PANO Legal Defense Fund.

For clarification purposes, the money gained from the payroll deductions will ONLY be used to support the families of the seven officers. The money gained from the Legal Defense Fund could be used for either, as is dictated by need.

Another thought with regards to the payroll deduction form:

It has five dollars pre-printed on there, and that ain't a lot of money, surely too little for us to miss. Buuuut................think about what you spend your money on, and think about if you can cut back on something, even if just a little bit. In my case, as any who know me will know, I am a heavy smoker and an alcoholic. If I cut out just one pack of smokes and just one drink at a bar a week, that is 8 dollars a week right there that I can save---$16 a pay period---and send to the families of these officers. We all have our vices, either smoking, drinking, too much fast food, gambling, collecting stuff we don't really need, whatever; think on yours, and give up a little of them to go the families. It ain't much when you think about how much money these families just lost every two weeks. I ain't suggesting anyone give up any such vice, just cut back a teensy bit and give the savings to these families. I am.

Anyone interested in donating more than $5 can do so by making the change to the form themselves prior to submitting it. Just scratch out the $5.00, write in the new amount and initial the change. Forms should be submitted via departmental mail to "FOP" or "Fraternal Order of Police."
