If this isnt the right place for this, I apologize, couldnt think of where else to go.
The long and short of it is that I am starting the process to join NOPD and in talking to various officers everyone has told me don't bother because you are a white male, you won't get in. Sure that there are exceptions but is there still quota system even now??
Thanks, take care.

You probably wont get much response to this question on this website. Go to www.signal26.com and ask the same question. You will get the honest truth from working members of the department.
Good Luck!

I would say that your expectations should be realistic. There are reasons to join the NOPD and reasons not to. There are things you can reasonably expect to get out of any police department and certainly this one in particular, and things you will not. It depends on what you, personally, want. There is no quota and your opportunity to be hired is good as our manpower is diminishing daily.
There are people who will tell you not to bother, as there are too many issues and too many problems. There are. But some, like me, who are capable of retiring but choose not to, remain because they see some things still worth working for. In the end, it is an individual choice.
