I am sad to report that NOPD Police Officer Chris Laine was seriously injured this morning on his police motorcycle on the North Shore. He has suffered a head injury and is in critical condition at North Shore hospital. We will keep everyone informed as to his progress and ask that you keep Chris and his family in your prayers.

Guys and Girls, Make every attempt possible to visit with Chris' family in the hospital and give support. I know you think he will not know you made it to the hospital, but it will help his family. Now is the time they need your support more than every. Believe me, I might not be an expert on many things, but this is one I am. LT, do you have any information on the location of the hospital?

I am told he is at North Shore Medical Center in Slidell in ICU, where he will likely remain for next 3-4 days. There will be a blood drive for him and everyone is urged to participate. Further developments will be announced as soon as they are received.

Chris is in ICU and as such should probably not have visitors just yet. He has experienced some reduction in swelling and that is a good sign but is still in great jeopardy. The next several days will be crucial. The Traffic Division has detailed officers to Chris around the clock. As Chris' or his family's needs come up we will assist in ANY way possible, as I'm sure everyone will. We will keep everyone informed as to Chris' condition and how you can help if needed.
Any more news of Chris, we have not heard alot in a few days ??

Just spoke to Captain Weiss.
He told me that Chris opened his eyes the other day and asked when he could go back to work.
He also told me that Chris will be moved to Touro in the next day or two and will be in rehab for the next 8 months.
If I get more I will pass it along.

Haven't heard anything about Chris lately. Is there anything anyone can update, or has the family requested some privacy?

Chris was moved to Touro Hospital and is in rehab. Visiting hours are from 4p-8p, but they are lenient with 26's who want to see him at other times.
