The public is invited Saturday to spend "A Day at the Park with Sheriff Harry Lee and the JPSO."
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office will sponsor a series of live demonstrations and exhibits from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lafreniere Park, 3000 Downs Blvd., Metairie.
The event will feature demonstrations by the SWAT team and the K-9 division, as well as a dive in the park's lagoon by deputies from the Land Air Sea Emergency Rescue unit. Several vehicles from the department's fleet will make a showing, including patrol cars, a helicopter, boats and the new high-water vehicles purchased after Hurricane Katrina.
Free food and refreshments will be available, said Col. John Fortunato, a Sheriff's Office spokesman.
"We just want to let the public see what's available in the Sheriff's Office and what we do on a day-to-day basis," he said.
Wow they have some stuff in JPSO in fact I heard that a LOT of NOPD will be going over in the next week or two, that JPSO is about to get ANOTHER raise.
How many will NOPD give up this time ??
